From Operating Experience to a Client Engagement

KOR Water already sold through Amazon when it began looking for a marketplace partner. Jessica Shen later described a five-month search and explained that Amazon’s coverage of my Ravenox operating experience helped lead KOR to me. The company wanted practical help improving its existing business as it prepared for another stage of brand and product development.

Understanding the Operation

I began with marketplace analysis, reviewing product information, listings, inventory and advertising considerations. Recommendations connected immediate account needs with longer-term decisions about the brand and its channels.

Availability, accurate product information and brand control mattered alongside advertising. More demand would be useful only if the operation could support it.

Turning Recommendations into Daily Support

The relationship continued beyond the initial assessment. I worked with KOR and the broader team on product information, listing issues, inventory and ongoing marketplace decisions, with account and listing support continuing into 2018.

Explaining the reasoning behind those decisions helped connect immediate fixes with the company’s longer-term strategy. Systems recommendations provided a direction for further development as the team worked through account and brand-access questions.

40% First-Month Revenue Growth, Reported by KOR

In a July 2018 LinkedIn recommendation, KOR Water’s then Product and eCommerce Manager Jessica Shen reported a 40% revenue increase in the first month of the engagement and said growth continued in the months that followed.

The figure is KOR’s account of the engagement rather than an independently audited result. Jessica recognized the broader team’s contribution as well as support beyond the original agreement.

The Operating Questions Behind Growth

Jessica’s recommendation described help with inventory, explanations and long-term strategy. Growth brought those questions together: whether products would remain available, whether customers had accurate information, how advertising related to stock, and how the brand would maintain control of its marketplace presence.

Supporting those decisions made the engagement more than advertising management. The value lay in connecting marketplace performance with the people and systems responsible for sustaining it.

What Carries Forward

Building Ravenox provided a useful foundation, while KOR required an assessment of its own needs. That combination of operating experience, client-specific analysis and practical explanation continues to inform my consulting at North Ember today.
