Amazon Small Business Impact Report

In 2019, Amazon released its annual Small Business Impact Report, highlighting the contributions of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), content creators, and developers worldwide. The report emphasized Amazon’s ongoing investment of tens of billions of dollars since 2011 to support entrepreneurs, as well as more than $500 million in AWS credits provided in 2018 to help startups accelerate growth.

The findings showed that:

  • SMBs selling in Amazon’s stores created an estimated 1.6 million jobs worldwide, up from 900,000 in 2017.

  • More than 50,000 small businesses exceeded $500,000 in sales on Amazon in 2018.

  • Nearly 200,000 surpassed $100,000 in sales, and more than 25,000 topped $1 million.


Sean Brownlee Featured in the Report

As part of the 2019 Impact Report, Sean Brownlee, CEO of Ravenox and founder of Frontier Market Solutions, was recognized for his entrepreneurial leadership. Highlighted for building a manufacturer-direct-to-consumer model, Sean shared how Amazon enabled his companies to expand globally while he balanced responsibilities as a U.S. Marine.
